PUBG Mobile Light and BGMI Lite are regional twins: same concept of a lighter first install for the same battle royale, but built for different ecosystems. Global players get PUBG Mobile Light. India gets BGMI Lite. You do not choose between them — the one you get depends on where your account is registered.
This page exists because August 2026 coverage mixed up the two launches. The only date that matters for global LIGHT is 25 August 2026, the day pre-registration opened worldwide. BGMI Lite pre-registration opened separately on its own schedule, and India App Store searches return no result for either listing. If you are in India, BGMI Lite is your version, not a delayed global package.

Why India gets a different build
India runs PUBG Mobile as Battlegrounds Mobile India, a separate title with its own publishing, servers, and compliance requirements. Because the parent game carries the BGMI branding in India, the lighter build does too. That is a branding and regional split, not a different engine or a deliberately cut-down product.
PUBG Mobile Light publisher on Google Play is Level Infinite; on the App Store it is Tencent Mobile International Limited. BGMI Lite on Google Play shows KRAFTON, Inc. as the seller. That different publisher ID on the store listing is the fastest way to confirm you are looking at the right build.

The 46 countries figure comes from checking the App Store listing across 53 country storefronts on 2 September 2026. Seven returned no result: India, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Russia. Every other country returned the same 12 November 2026 date and version 4.6.0.
iPhone gap for India players
BGMI has been on the India App Store since August 2021, currently version 4.5.0. Krafton uses the iOS route for BGMI. The absence of a BGMI Lite App Store listing for India is therefore a publishing decision, not a technical limitation.
An Indian player on iPhone who wants the Lite experience currently has no store listing to register on. That may change; the thing to watch is whether Krafton opens an App Store page before the end-of-2026 window.
Can progress transfer between them?
PUBG Mobile and BGMI have always been separate ecosystems with separate accounts and progress. Krafton has confirmed that PUBG Mobile Light uses your existing PUBG Mobile account with items carrying over. No cross-region or cross-game transfer has been announced between BGMI and the global game, and historically that has not existed.
Treat BGMI Lite as its own ecosystem, not as a Lite-shaped door into global PUBG Mobile.
Same idea, different timelines
Global players are first. Pre-registration opened 25 August 2026. The November 2026 window is confirmed across coverage, with the App Store showing 12 November 2026. India follows with BGMI Lite, pre-registration already open, launch by end of 2026 with no exact day.
Everything else — exact download sizes for BGMI Lite, device requirements, feature parity, launch rewards — is unconfirmed for the India build until Krafton India publishes it.

- Pre-register for BGMI Lite on its own Google Play listing, not the global LIGHT id.
- Ignore the 25 August date — that was global LIGHT, not BGMI Lite.
- Skip every BGMI Lite APK in your DMs. The game is not available to download yet.
- Free up 3–4 GB of storage so you are ready when it lands.
- Link your BGMI account to a real login (Google or Facebook) now, before launch day.
