PUBG Mobile Lite Recoil Control Mastery
M416, Beryl, AKM — patterns, attachments, and the crouch-firing trick pros use to halve recoil.
Recoil control is the difference between a kill and a death in PUBG Mobile Lite. The guns are familiar from the main app — M416, Beryl, AKM — but controlling their recoil on a smaller screen requires practice and the right attachments. This guide covers the three most-used rifles in Erangel, the crouch-firing trick that cuts vertical recoil nearly in half, and how to build a recoil habit in training mode before you ever drop into a real match.
The game is upcoming (official posts: mid-November 2026; App Store listing currently shows 12 November 2026). Erangel is in the first install. This page assumes you have a loadout; for gun priority see weapons. For sensitivity settings that make your screen readable, see sensitivity.
Why recoil matters more on mobile
PC players compensate for recoil with precise mouse movement. On mobile, your thumbs control both movement and aim, which means your spray budget is literally the distance your screen thumb can travel. A gun with high vertical recoil — the Beryl, for example — burns through that budget faster than a controllable spray like the M416.
The fix is not raw thumb speed. It is learning the pattern and letting your muscle memory do the work while your eyes watch the sight picture.
M416 — the default spray
The M416 is the most stable 5.56 rifle in PUBG Mobile Lite because it has the most predictable recoil of any full-auto AR. It is the benchmark against which every other spray gun is measured.
Pattern: The first five shots climb slightly, then the spray settles into a gentle vertical arc. With a compensator and vertical grip, the arc becomes almost perfectly vertical, which is easy to track with a straight pull.
The crouch-firing trick: Crouching while spraying cuts vertical recoil by roughly 40–45%. The physics in PUBG Mobile give crouched shots a recoil multiplier. For the M416 specifically, combining crouch + compensator + vertical grip produces a spray that tracks a moving target at mid-range with minimal thumb movement.
Loadout priority: Compensator → Vertical grip → Extended mag → Red dot or 3x scope → Tactical stock. The compensator and vertical grip are non-negotiable for full-auto. Without them, the M416 is still usable but noticeably harder to control.
Engagement range: 0–200 meters. Past 200 meters, switch to semi-auto or tap fire. Full-auto at range wastes ammunition and gives your position away.
Beryl M762 — high risk, high reward
The Beryl fires 7.62 ammunition and deals more damage per shot than the M416. The tradeoff is a harder recoil pattern: faster initial climb, stronger horizontal kick, and a snap-back at the end of the burst.
Pattern: The first three shots jump hard upward and slightly left. After shot four, the pattern flattens but retains horizontal shake. Players who learn the initial jump can control the full burst. Players who panic at the snap and release the trigger lose the fight.
The half-grip trap: Many players use half-grip on the Beryl thinking it helps with the horizontal component. It does not. Use a vertical grip. The half-grip was designed for SMGs and DMRs, not for an AR that needs straight vertical control.
Loadout priority: Compensator → Vertical grip → Extended mag → 3x or 4x scope. Same priority as the M416, but the compensator matters more because the Beryl’s horizontal kick is the harder half of the pattern.
Engagement range: 0–150 meters. The Beryl is a close-to-mid weapon. At range, the recoil becomes punishing on mobile. If you are shooting at targets past 150 meters, use semi-auto or switch to an AKM.
When to use it: The Beryl wins against an M416 at close range because the higher damage-per-shot reduces time-to-kill. In Pochinki hallways, School bathrooms, and Georgopol apartments, the Beryl is the better choice. In open fields at 200 meters, the M416 wins.
AKM — the patient 7.62
The AKM is a 7.62 rifle with slower fire rate than the Beryl but more controllable recoil. It is the rifle you pick up when you did not find an M416 and need something that works.
Pattern: The AKM climbs steeply for the first four shots, then settles into a slower vertical rise. The horizontal component is mild. The slower fire rate gives you more time between shots to correct.
The difference from Beryl: The AKM fires roughly 20% slower than the Beryl. That difference in fire rate means the AKM is easier to control at mid-range, but it loses close-range fights to the faster Beryl.
Loadout priority: Compensator → Vertical grip → Extended mag → Red dot or 4x scope. The compensator is critical because the AKM already has strong vertical recoil; reducing it with the muzzle device is the single biggest improvement you can make.
Engagement range: 0–250 meters. The AKM is the most versatile 7.62 in Erangel. It works close in compounds and holds its own at range in semi-auto.
The crouch-firing technique
Crouch-firing is the most effective technique available to mobile players that many beginners overlook. Here is why it works:
- Crouching reduces the vertical recoil multiplier by approximately 40–45%.
- Crouching stabilizes your aim — your character’s center of mass drops, which reduces the micro-movements that cause stray shots.
- Crouching while spraying does not slow your movement speed in a meaningful way during a firefight.
How to practice it: In training mode, mark a target at 50 meters. Alternate between standing full-auto and crouch full-auto. Notice how the crouched spray stays on target longer. Once the muscle memory builds, crouch automatically when you enter a mid-range engagement.
The mistake to avoid: Some players crouch and then do not move their thumb at all. The spray still climbs — it just climbs more slowly. You still need to pull down, just less aggressively.
Building recoil muscle memory
You cannot practice recoil in a menu. The training mode in PUBG Mobile is where you build the habit before a real match.
Phase 1 — learn the pattern: Go to training mode. Pick up an M416 with a red dot. Stand at 50 meters from a target. Fire a full 40-round mag in full-auto without moving your thumb sideways. Watch where the rounds land. The pattern should be roughly vertical. If it drifts left, pull slightly right as you pull down. This is compensation, not correction.
Phase 2 — add attachments: Equip the compensator and vertical grip. Fire again. Notice how the pattern flattens. The compensator reduces both horizontal and vertical recoil; the grip reduces vertical. Together they cut your workload dramatically.
Phase 3 — add crouch: Crouch before you fire. Fire a full mag. Notice the difference. The crouched spray climbs slower, giving you more time to track a moving target.
Phase 4 — add movement: In a real match, you will rarely stand still. Practice firing while walking — left stick full forward, right stick tracking the target. The M416 is stable enough for this. The Beryl is not. Only attempt strafe-spraying with fully-kitted M416 or AKM.
Attachment priority by gun type
All ARs: Compensator is always the first attachment. Suppressor is for stealth play only; it does not reduce recoil. Flash hider is a compromise that reduces flash but not as much as the compensator.
Grips: Vertical for spray guns (M416, Beryl, AKM, SCAR). Angled for tap-fire guns (Mini14, SKS, SLR). Light grip and half grip are refinements — get the essentials first.
Scopes: Red dot for close range and fast ADS. 3x for the default mid-range AR setup. 4x for open fields and DMRs. 6x and 8x are for snipers and DMRs, not for ARs.
What this page will not do
It will not give you a sensitivity number that makes recoil disappear. Recoil control is a physical skill that requires practice in training mode, not a settings tweak. It will not rank every gun — that is the weapon tier list. It will not invent unique LIGHT-only recoil values.
For the full match loop, see how to play. For sensitivity settings, see sensitivity. For the guns themselves, see weapons. For the map that puts these recoil skills to the test, see maps and landing spots.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you drop into Erangel.
What is the easiest AR to control in PUBG Mobile Lite?
M416 is the most controllable full-auto AR. Its recoil pattern is predictable and the compensator + vertical grip combination makes it easy to learn.
Does crouch-firing actually reduce recoil?
Yes. Crouching reduces vertical recoil by roughly 40–45% in PUBG Mobile. Practice it in training mode before using it in real matches.
Should I use half-grip on the Beryl?
No. Use vertical grip. The half-grip is designed for SMGs and DMRs. The Beryl needs vertical control to manage its strong initial jump.
What is the most important attachment for recoil control?
Compensator. It reduces both horizontal and vertical recoil. On any spray AR, it is the first attachment to equip.
Can I practice recoil before the game launches?
Use the main PUBG Mobile training mode to practice M416 and Beryl patterns. The muscle memory transfers directly to LIGHT.
Is recoil different on the LIGHT client?
No. LIGHT shares the same gunplay as the main app. Recoil patterns and attachment effects are identical.
